Digital Marketing Strategy
When diving into digital marketing it is easy to get excited about all the opportunities and start using the various tools without thinking about how they all tie together.
Without a digital marketing strategy you will struggle to reach your goals.
Creating a digital marketing strategy is similar to traditional marketing, albeit with a range of exciting, powerful online advertising platforms at our disposal. Research, objectives, goal setting, segmentation, implementation and analysis are just as important as they ever were offline.
The following marketing principles apply to digital marketing too:
- SMART (Specific, Measureable, Achievable, Realistic & Time-bound) Objectives.
- SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities & Threats) Analysis.
- PEST (Political, Economic, Social-cultural & Technological) Factor Analysis.
- The 7 P’s (Product/service, Price, Promotion, Place, Process, People & Physical evidence).
- Understanding consumer and buyer behaviour.
- The list goes on…
My role as Digital Marketing Consultant
My role as your digital marketing consultant is to pull all the research together and use it to formulate a digital marketing strategy.
It is very important that I closely align your new digital strategy with your overall business objectives. Ultimately, we want to both reinforce and build upon the client relationships and the return on investment that underpins your objectives.
With a solid strategy in place I then move to implementation using the range of online marketing options to deliver your goals and objectives.
Depending on the scale of your marketing objectives and the budget available we may also need additional professionals; graphic designers or research agencies for example. It would be my responsibility to coordinate these additional resources and keep the strategy moving towards hitting its milestones.
Don’t sponsor a whole digital marketing agency
As a consultant I don’t employ an office space full of people. A typical digital marketing agency employs too many people, all with fancy titles and expensive salaries.
Few organisations need the legion of account managers, project managers, team leaders and swathe of implementation staff that are often billed to clients of digital marketing agencies.
Instead, my management and consulting fees go directly towards the time and effort I put into making your digital marketing strategy work at full capacity. That sounds smarter to me.
